Software Engineer - Java, Python, AWS

Role Overview

You’ll be a Staff Data Engineer working on Foundation Analytics. Your focus will be on building essential parts of the foundation data services platform, including next-generation reporting and analytics. Collaboration with team members is crucial to deliver high-quality software projects on time.

Responsibilities

• Publish well-written and tested code to production.
• Design and develop key features and functionality for the data platform.
• Investigate production issues and optimize data pipelines.
• Improve data pipelines for efficiency and data quality.
• Build a platform supporting customer-facing reporting, machine learning initiatives, and internal product analytics.
• Collaborate on technical solutions for complex challenges.
• Mentor others and contribute to technical decisions.

Qualifications

• Basic:

• 7+ years of software development/data engineering experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building scalable data platforms or reliable data pipelines.
• Proficiency in at least one of Java, Python, or Scala.
• Strong developer skills with a focus on scalable and fault-tolerant software systems.
• Experience with AWS or related cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes infrastructure and security best practices.
• Ability to work in a multifaceted, occasionally interrupt-driven environment.
• Solid understanding of data modeling.
• Proven track record with cloud and data-related technologies.

• Preferred:

• Experience writing ETL jobs to address data engineering challenges.
• Understanding of build and deployment tools.
• Familiarity with Kafka, Flink, Spark frameworks, and job scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow, Celery, AWS Step Functions).
