The Client

The client is a global visual inspiration social media platform used by people around the world to shop products personalized to their taste, find ideas to do offline, and discover the most inspiring creators. Today, more than 450 million people come to the platform every month to explore and experience billions of ideas that have been saved. The company monetizes its social media websites by selling digital advertising.

The Project

The project is all about large-scale Data processing. As a Senior Engineer, you will work on one of the world's largest social media platforms dealing with petabytes of data daily. You will contribute as part of R&D self-organized team working in a challenging, innovative environment for our client. You are going to investigate, create, and implement solutions for many technical challenges using cutting edge technologies, including building/enhancing Big Data processing platform enabling effective functioning of software used by hundreds of millions of users.

The Team

The team is an international one; all team members are divided into Scrum teams consisting of 5-7 people.

Your Future Tasks:

  • Obtain tasks from the Project Lead or Team Lead (TL), prepare functional and design specifications, approve them with all the stakeholders;
  • Ensure that assignments are delivered within set deadlines and required quality objectives;
  • Provide estimations, agree on task duration with the manager, and contribute to the project plan of the assigned area;
  • Analyze the scope of alternative solutions and make decisions in the area of implementation based on your experience and technical expertise;
  • Lead functional and architectural design of the assigned areas;
  • Make sure design decisions on the project meet architectural and design requirements;
  • Address the risks, provide and implement mitigation plans;
  • Report on the area readiness/quality, and raise red flags in crisis situations which are beyond your assigned area;
  • Be responsible for resolving crisis situations within your scope of duties;
  • Initiate and conduct code reviews, create code standards, conventions, and guidelines;
  • Suggest technical and functional improvements to add value to the product;
  • Collaborate with other teams.

Our Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Science or similar;
  • 5+ years of work experience with Apache Airflow, Data Pipeline (SQL/SparkSQL);
  • Strong Python programming skills;
  • Ability to deliver high quality code, automated testing, and other best engineering practices;
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills;
  • Result-oriented approach;
  • Upper Intermediate level of English, spoken and written.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS preferred);
  • Hands-on experience with Java/Scala.
