You MUST Have The Following
- Advanced ability as a Python Solutions Architect/Principal Engineer/Engineering Manager
- Leadership experience: you must have led small teams on the delivery of projects
- Trading, Front Office finance
- Some appreciation of asset classes such as Fixed Income, equities, FX or commodities
- AWS Glue
- Apache Airflow
- Agile
The Following Is DESIRABLE, Not Essential
- Spark, Dremio, Apache Iceberg, Arrow, DBT
- Buy-side asset management (hedge fund, asset manager, investment management)
Role Overview
Python Solutions Architect (Architecture Programmer Developer Java Python Software Engineer Data Enterprise Engineering Developer Programmer AWS GCP Python Athena Glue Airflow Ignite JavaScript Agile Pandas NumPy SciPy Spark Dremio Apache Iceburg Arrow DBT gRPC protobuf TypeScript Manager Finance Trading Front Office Investment Banking Asset Manager Financial Services FX Fixed Income Equities Commodities Derivatives Hedge Fund) required by my asset management client in London. You will join a relatively new department that, in the last 3-4 years, has built a range of products such as a search engine for quant tools, a quant library, a complex analytics tool that generates reports using data extracted from existing quant models and an application that aggregates positions from around the company. The team over the next 12 months is looking to expand and improve the underlying fundamental data architecture to allow for improved and expanded analytics and performance of the Front End applications.
You will join this team as an experienced, senior member of the department. You will be assigned a team of 3 which you will lead to deliver projects of work. You will be very hands-on but have design and architectural oversight, responsibility for the delegation of work, reporting to senior management on delivery, product management and the mentoring of more junior team members. You will also contribute to technical strategy across the department.
The core technology is Java, Python, Apache Airflow and AWS Glue. Experience with any Back End development languages could be relevant to this role as long as you have the experience in a data context. You could come from a Scala and Ruby background as long as you have Apache Airflow and AWS Glue. Any exposure to Spark, Dremio, Apache Iceburg, Arrow or DBT would also be highly desirable as they have implemented these in the last 6 months.
They have a very flexible hybrid working set up.
Salary: £150k - £180k + 20% Guaranteed Bonus + 10% Pension
