Joining the Team
Be the best Python Engineer you can be, working with equally great engineers.
Software runs every single aspect of this hedge fund’s operations. Scientific approaches are behind almost everything, from top to bottom. You’ll be coming in to build various systems and platforms in Python, with the chance to accelerate your career and you don’t need any prior experience in finance, trading, or Hedge Funds.
Working Environment
A large portion of your work will involve working closely with the investment and quantitative teams. This is one of the main reasons you’re going to need a STEM degree because you’ll be discussing in-depth theoretical and quantitative ideas on a daily basis before building software to help translate these ideas into working products. Don’t worry, you won’t be expected to do this on your own, you’ll have a world-class team of engineers to back you up and collaborate with.
This is a great team to join as you’ll partner with various leaders in the business and in some cases work directly under the supervision of the CTO, who has been a key person involved in putting this team and program together. You’ll be given plenty of training and mentoring to be the best engineer in this complex, busy Hedge Fund environment.
Challenges and Rewards
Being an engineer at this Hedge Fund is hard work and it can be a stressful environment at times. We appreciate completely that this isn’t going to be for everyone. If it’s the right environment for you, you’ll be given all the tools and investment to reach your goals and become a world-class engineer.
If you’re going to be the best, you’ll also be paid as one of the best. That’s why there’s no numbers mentioned here. We’re keen to discuss what you’ll earn in year one, two, three and beyond. Six figures will likely be the norm, but there’s no reason why in a few years that couldn’t be seven.
Experience and Qualifications
In terms of experience, it doesn’t really matter where you come from as long as you have a strong background in software engineering and you’re willing to do your future work in Python. The sweet spot is that this will likely be your second or third job – this is junior to mid-level – and you’re keen to learn. As mentioned, it’s essential you have a STEM degree.
