Description of the role

The ideal candidate will thrive in cross-functional and Agile team environments and possess comprehensive knowledge in the following areas:

Plan and execute high-quality business analysis of data sets, analyzing and interpreting collected data to meet business requirements.
Work with project team members to gather, assess, organize, profile, and clean data for geospatial applications.
Develop or use existing tools that present data in useful business formats.
Program, obtain, process, and analyze and format vector and raster datasets, digitizing, preparing input data for various models, or automating models to output maps.
Create re-usable applications of geostatistical models (R, Python, SAS, SPSS, etc.) using available technologies.
Develop algorithms that will enable the processing of satellite imagery data in real-time (e.g., using Google Earth Engine).
Develop innovative approaches to data exploration and visualization and develop web applications to communicate findings.
Create, update, and manage geospatial information system databases and assist in identifying, compiling, and assessing geospatial and imagery data sets.

Needed qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related quantitative field (e.g., GIS, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, etc.)
Experience as a Geospatial Analyst preferred.
Strong experience in using analytical packages such as R, Python, etc., and approaches (regression, decision trees, clustering, neural networks, etc.)
Experience with Geospatial Tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and/or geospatial approaches (spatial analysis, remote sensing, network analysis, geographic visualization, etc.)
Knowledge of spatial analytics such as spatial statistics, spatial econometrics, location optimization, etc. is strongly preferred.
Ability to work with relational databases such as SQL, PostGIS, etc.
Familiarity with open-source GIS such as GDAL (including OGR), QGIS will be a plus.
