BIOLOGICAL DATA SCIENTIST (M/F/D)

HUMMINGBIRD DIAGNOSTICS is a dynamically growing company based in Heidelberg. For tomorrow's health, we’re developing diagnostic tests for early disease detection, personalized medicine, and health monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Perform custom data analysis and train predictive models on biological and clinical data
• Use, maintain and improve internal data science, data visualization and bioinformatics software tools
• Research and integrate new data sources into our knowledge base
• Write high-quality Python code
• Stay up to date on the latest developments and relevant literature and contribute your ideas in a team

REQUIREMENTS

• MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field
• Firm understanding of data science and machine learning concepts
• Expertise in Python for complex data analysis and machine learning
• Knowledge of fundamental concepts in Biology or strong interest in Biology
• Ability to write clean code and some degree of software development experience
• Ability to handle and finish projects independently and reliably
• Strong problem-solving skills

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Expertise in biological databases, transcriptomics data, genomics data
• Expertise in RNA biology, especially non-coding RNAs, small RNAs
• Experience with advanced AI methods applicable to biological and clinical data (e.g. language models, causal machine learning)
• Background in software development, web development, databases, cloud services
• Knowledge in the areas of Oncology, Neurodegeneration, Immunology, or biomarker discovery in general
