Overview

We are seeking a skilled Trading Developer to join our client, a leading oil and gas company with a prominent presence in commodity trading in Houston. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing trading applications, with proficiency in C# and Python. This role will primarily focus on providing technical support to traders, enhancing trading systems, and developing new functionalities to optimize trading operations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with traders and other stakeholders to gather requirements and specifications for trading applications.
  • Develop and maintain trading applications using C# and Python, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support traders by troubleshooting technical issues, providing timely resolutions, and optimizing trading algorithms.
  • Design and implement new features and enhancements to trading platforms to meet business needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure the quality and stability of trading systems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in trading technology and financial markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Trading Developer or similar role in a front office trading environment.
  • Proficiency in C# and Python programming languages, with a strong understanding of object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with developing and supporting trading applications, including algorithmic trading systems, risk management tools, and order management systems.
  • Knowledge of financial markets, commodities trading, and trading workflows.
  • Familiarity with trading APIs, FIX protocol, market data feeds, and order execution platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with traders, developers, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of database systems, SQL, and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
  • Certification in financial engineering, quantitative analysis, or trading technology (e.g., CQF, MTA).
