Position Available: Systems Engineer
- Location/Days Onsite:
- Office Location(s): To sit preferably in our Providence, RI office and/or Hopkinton, MA location
- Onsite Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement software and hardware solutions for Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Microfluidic Technology (MFT) automation platforms
- Conduct thorough research and experimentation to make informed data-driven decisions.
- Refine software algorithms and system integration through iterative data collection
- Perform functional testing and analysis of newly developed products to ensure operation and reliability
- Work across disciplines to perform activities related to coding (Python), electromechanical assembly, and molecular biology
- Drive innovation by working individually and in groups in order to provide competent design solutions
- Create and edit project documents within the product development framework
- Maintain comprehensive software documentation in alignment with regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to quality and validation requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree in a relevant discipline such as computer science, electrical/computer engineering, biomedical engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in at least 1 programming language such as Python, Java, or C/C++
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with product development and support in a regulated environment
- Proven track record as a self-starter and lifelong learner, adept at developing scientific instrumentation
- Background in software or system engineering with a demonstrated history of successful product launches
- Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience in seamlessly integrating electromechanical instruments with software systems
- Familiarity with Qt Frameworks, along with mastery of software development tool chains is a plus
- Knowledge or experience in biotech, specifically with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), capillary electrophoresis, automated liquid-handling, and bioinformatics, would be highly advantageous
- Highly desirable technical skillsets include experience with AI/ML frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and expertise in cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS or Azure
Travel Requirements:
Opportunity for occasional travel, up to 5% of the time, for attending conferences, collaborating with vendors, and visiting customer sites, fostering invaluable connections and insights to drive our mission forward
