About Mission Bit
Mission Bit is a San Francisco-based nonprofit that inspires youth of color to explore the world of STEM with project-based computer science education that embraces their identities. We offer a variety of hands-on STEM education programs, including biweekly, semester-long introductory coding courses.
The role
- As a TA with us, you'll promote a welcoming and supportive class community.
- Foster productive collaboration and track student progress.
- Help students realize their potential.
We're proud to provide training to all instructional staff to prepare them to teach, along with ongoing support throughout the semester! If you have a passion for community, social justice, and coding, and if you want to uplift Bay Area youth and bridge the tech divide, then this might be the opportunity for you! This is a seasonal, semester-based, hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with 16+/- hours per week.

Instructor Training

Class Dates
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:45 AM - 2:45 PM
- June 11, 2024 - July 24, 2024
Weekly Meetings
1 hour a week to meet with the instructional team (Virtual)
Additional dates:
- Demo Day: July 26, 2024, 4:00 PM - 7:30 PM
- End-of-semester interview: 30 minutes between July 29, 2024 - August 2, 2024

What you'll be doing:
- 70% Community building, classroom management, and student support
- Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture surrounding the Mission Bit core values.
- Plan and lead community-building games and activities.
- Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students.
- Promote positive, productive collaboration between students.
- Ensure students receive the support they need throughout the course.
- 20% Professional collaboration
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Communicate and collaborate with Lead Instructor and other instructional staff.
- 10% Communication
- Communicate course progress to students and their families.
- Communicate student progress and success throughout the course.
Requirements
- We'd love to hear from you if you...
- Have experience in relevant coding languages and/or software.
- Have values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for supporting youth.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Are self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously.
Benefits
Pay: $22.00 / hour
