The AMLZ at ETH Zurich invites applications for a HiWi position focused on Python code development within AI-driven manufacturing projects. If you have a knack for Python and would like to develop code for software focused on AI in manufacturing, this might be the job for you!

Job description

The Advanced Manufacturing Lab Zurich (AMLZ) at ETH Zurich is looking for a HiWi with Python skills to support code development. The appointed HiWi will be involved in coding tasks central to projects focusing on AI and computer vision in the manufacturing sector.

Consequently, a solid foundation in Python, algorithmization and Git is essential for this role. Familiarity with PyTorch and GUI frameworks such as PyQt is viewed favourably and adds significant value to the candidate's profile. While a basic understanding of AI and computer vision is beneficial, it is not a strict requirement for the role.

Moreover, familiarity with the manufacturing domain is not a prerequisite.

Finally, it should be noted that the position is not limited to a fixed term and therefore offers flexibility and the opportunity for long-term collaboration. Candidates are encouraged to begin their involvement as early as possible, with the expectation that they will commit to 15 hours per week during academic semesters. There is also the possibility of a full-time commitment outside of semester periods.

Your profile

  • Enrolled as a Bachelor's or Master's degree student
  • Commitment to work for 15 hours per week during the academic semester, with the possibility to extend to full-time during semester breaks
  • Open to a long-term engagement, ideally for a minimum of 6 months, with a preference for 12 months or more
  • Proficient in coding, with a strong emphasis on Python + familiarity of Git
  • Prior experience with machine learning, especially using PyTorch, is considered beneficial
  • Prior experience with computer vision is considered beneficial
  • Prior experience with GUI frameworks such as PyQt is considered beneficial
