Sr. Technology Risk Data Engineer - Financial Services (Python/SQL) Location: Manhattan, NY Salary: 130-150K + 7% Bonus + Pension and full Benefits Due to US regulatory requirements, this candidate must be a green card holder or a citizen of the United States. Must live locally in the NJ/NY Area currently. Please note: To be considered for this role, you must have a strong SQL/Python background within Financial Services. Should have a business understanding of Swaps, Bonds, Options, Fixed Income, etc.... Create innovative data solutions within the constraints of a highly regulated environment. Cultivate a deep understanding of the Bank's data and risk modeling. Collaborate with the team's stakeholders to identify requirements and deliver insightful, efficient, and secure data and visualization solutions that also align with the Bank's risk appetite, technology standards, and best practices.

Essential Job Function:

  • Provide innovative data solutions by working with team's stakeholders to understand and gather data requirements and identify opportunities for improvement for data analysis, reporting and visualizations
  • Structure data sets from various systems & databases to find usable and actionable data
  • Collaborate with other departments within the Technology organization to ensure solutions are developed according to Technology standards and regulatory requirements
  • Create presentations, visualizations and reports based on requirements and findings
  • Using tools such as Python, collaborate with the Risk Organization to enhance their models such as VaR. scenario analysis, stress test, risk metrics, income simulation, collateral and credit risk
  • Assist the Risk organization with model validation where needed
  • Provide training and guidance on supported technologies to users via any engagement type (e.g. in-person, telephone/email/chat outreach, service tickets) in a professional, helpful, and timely manner.
  • Create and maintain documentation as required (e.g. data models, data lineage, metadata, data dictionary, information supply chain)

Technical skills:

  • Expertise with writing SQL, including Data Definition Language (DDL), Data Manipulation Language (DML), and functions for efficiently analyzing and transforming data
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical math and statistics with experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets using Python
  • Expertise with reading and providing design input to data models and database design development
  • Knowledge of and experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Qlik Sense
  • Advanced Excel Knowledge, along with experience using Risk analytics/modeling tools, such as Polypaths
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

Non-technical skills:

  • Consistent composure and the maintenance of professional interactions while working in a high-pressure and high-visibility role
  • Financial: knowledge of market risk, Asset liability Management (ALM) and security valuation concepts with focus on fixed income and derivatives valuation including MBS, CMBS, swaps, callable bonds and options.
  • Financial Modeling: inputs and generates a series of complex reports. Has knowledge of the assumptions built into modern pricing theory for instruments. Must be able to understand and review inputs and reports for coherence and reasonableness.
  • Experience - Minimum 5 years of experience with proven working experience as a data engineer or data analyst
