Software Engineer (Python) Alternative Macro Investment Manager - Vienna, Austria

Selby Jennings is working closely with a global alternative investment management company, who manage a discretionary global macro trading strategy across liquid commodity, foreign exchange, fixed income and equity markets. They are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join the dynamic team in Vienna. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects within a fast-growing company, tackling data challenges and leveraging your expertise in Python and related technologies.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Data Team to design, develop, and maintain web systems, dashboards, and services.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python, Django, and other relevant technologies.
Implement frontend components using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Work on backend components utilising SQL databases and Linux environments.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality software delivery.
Collaborate closely with team members to understand project requirements and contribute innovative solutions.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in software engineering.

Skills:

2+ years of experience in a software-related role.
Proficiency in Python, Django, Linux, Git, SQL, HTML+CSS, and JavaScript.
Prior technical experience in a software-related role.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Familiarity with technologies such as Postgres, Redis, Asyncio, React, and gRPC/Protobuf is a plus.
