Job Description
Software Developer Autonomous Wind Turbine Robotics
This organization is a scale-up company focusing on developing automated mechanisms for transporting heavy tightening tools used to tighten very large bolted connections in wind turbines. As a software developer, you will work on one of the company's autonomous bolting robots to reduce turbine production times in the factory, eliminating faulty bolt tightenings, and speeding up turbine field installation. Your effort, therefore, combined with the robot will bring down the cost of wind energy.
Daily Responsibilities
A regular day at the office starts with grabbing a good coffee or tea and executing your planning which is carefully estimated at the week’s start. Daily just before lunch, a group brainstorm is held where questions, challenges, and possible solutions are discussed. In the afternoon hardware testing could be done with a small test bench on your desk or at the mock-up wind turbine in our workshop. This process repeats itself till major bugs are ironed out. The icing on the cake is to join one of your colleagues for a wind turbine visit to test the developed software in the field. Usually, optimization points are taken back to the office which thereafter will be solved and implemented.

About the Company
Our solutions are used to transport tightening tools for bolt sizes ranging from M30 to M90, with a mass of up to 60kg per tool. The particular challenge here is to develop software and hardware that is easy to operate, robust to resist harsh environmental conditions of (offshore) wind turbines, and can register bolt tightening data to guarantee a constant bolt tightening quality during field installation of bolted connections. Short development projects follow each other in quick succession, with most products containing a combination of mechanical hardware design, electronic PCB and actuator design, and high-level and low-level software development to make the product come to life. The smooth and agile cooperation and communication between these three disciplines are important for us and make that our products perform like clockwork.
