REMOTE Python / Django Developer
100% Remote- Central Time Zone
Prefer Candidates in the Chicago Land Area

Apex Systems, the Nation's 2nd largest Technical Staffing and Services Firm, has an opening for REMOTE Python/Django Developer for a Science & Engineering research company in Lemont for a 2,000 hours (12 months) contract plus extensions and ability to convert to full time employment.

Candidate must be a US Citizen We are looking for people who have done enterprise scale software development in Django.
Experience in developing, running, managing and deploying containers with Podman is desired.
We anticipate this being a one-year position. Long term extensions are possible.
The candidate may be based anywhere in the United States.
The contractor will be expected to be available for meetings during normal business hours in US Central Time.
Depending on COVID restrictions trips to Client site in Chicago may be required, so priority will be given to contractors in the Chicagoland area, and second priority to contractors with easy access to a major air hub.
Access to NDA Material
It is possible that the contractor(s) will be exposed to Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) material in the course of their job. The contractor(s) must agree to be bound by all NDAs that Client has entered into.
Qualifications
The following are key skills / experience for this position. Resumes that do not possess all, or at least most, of these skills should not be presented for consideration:
- Significant experience developing enterprise applications in Python (version 3.6+).
- Significant experience with the Django web framework (version 3.2+)
- Experience in SQL database architecture and development, particularly MySQL.
- Significant in full software life cycle experience and proper software engineering practices
- Demonstrates understanding of:
- Source code control (GitLab preferred)
- Software testing (Cypress preferred)
- Linux
The following skills / experience are not required, but would be considered a strong plus:
- Understanding of Sync/Async concepts; Experience with uWSGI/ASGI, websockets
- Experience with other languages such as C/C++, Java, Javascript, etc.
- Experience in developing, running, managing and deploying containers with Podman

- Good understanding of Linux and Linux commands
- Testing: Unit testing, Integration Testing, CI experience a plus
- Interpersonal skills: Remote team experience
- Ability to communicate openly and often with teammates and remain open to new ideas
- Experience with taking a leadership role among a team of software engineers and practicing strong software release engineering principles
- Code Documentation and writing skills
- Security: Experience with LDAP integration, Authentication methods using Django Framework utilizing OAuth 2.0, DUO, LDAP, etc.
- Javascript/Angular familiarity
