Opportunity at Bluevine
Bluevine is looking for candidates with solid analytical thinking and great coding and leadership skills to join our Data Operations team as a Team Leader. In this role, you will manage a team of Python developers that works closely with the Risk Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science teams, helping support their processes through the development of features for analytical decisions and ML models, data processing pipelines, monitoring tools, and more.
This position is a good fit for strong data-oriented Python developers interested in transitioning to their first managerial role, or to hands-on team leaders that want to transition into the Data disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of motivated, hardworking Python developers
- Work with stakeholders, group managers and fellow team leaders on planning projects and tasks
- Guide team members through code reviews, design discussions, debugging sessions, etc.
- Support development efforts by developing data products in collaboration with the Data Science and Analytics teams
- Design and develop data and model monitoring tools - producing automated reports, dashboards, and visualizations
- Balance between hands-on and managerial work depending on team’s needs
Requirements
- 5+ years hands-on experience programming in Python in a production setting
- Experience leading technical projects and/or working independently
- BSc/BA in Computer Science or related field or comparable experience
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to collaborate smoothly with and convey complex ideas in a clear way to people of different backgrounds
- Proactive, result-driven and multi-tasker; creative but committed to meeting deadlines
- Quick learner with exceptional time management skills
- Excellent English, written and verbal
Nice to have
- Experience working Python Data/ML libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, Scikit Learn)
- Experience working with Airflow
- Experience with AWS ecosystem, SageMaker in particular
