Job Opportunity: Python Software Engineer at Canonical

Canonical is seeking a Python Software Engineer to join the Certification team. The team is responsible for creating tools to ensure the proper functioning of desktops, laptops, servers, and IoT devices. The ideal candidate is a Python developer with knowledge of hardware.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop tools for certifying hardware with Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Desktop, and Server
• Design hardware for independent device probing
• Create frameworks for software tests to verify Ubuntu's performance on hardware
• Collaborate with silicon companies, OEMs, and ODMs to enhance the Ubuntu experience on various devices

Key Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in Python programming
• Experience with test automation and Linux-based embedded hardware
• Familiarity with Ubuntu or other Linux distributions
• Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed team

Desired Skills and Experience

• Passion for hardware tinkering and making
• Agile environment experience
• Knowledge of hardware testing, particularly in the IoT space
• Familiarity with the C programming language
