Job Description

The Python Software Engineer who has a primary background in software engineering will be responsible for collaborating on the development of the integration between our machine learning products and user facing applications, including the underlying infrastructure supporting our environment. This role will be involved with the design, build, deployment and improvement of data-driven products that will improve the quality-of-care and quality-of-life of Orthopaedic patients worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with machine learning scientists and application software engineers to develop systems producing advanced data insights;
  • Integration of third-party platforms and software to build a platform for the efficient construction and execution of machine learning models and system infrastructure;
  • Deploying infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code;
  • Developing pipelines to batch execute models and data engineering pipelines;

Requirements

  • Practical Knowledge In Any Of The Following Tools
    • Python for developing data pipelines, machine learning pipelines and APIs for serving models;
    • SQL databases;
    • Infrastructure as code tooling such as Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes;
    • Git and CI/CD pipeline tooling;
  • Experience/competency In The Following Areas
    • Strong communication skills as this position works as part of a cross-disciplinary product team;
    • Programming with a statically typed languages such as C# or Java;
    • Programming with Python;
    • Azure Cloud;
    • Cloud native engineering;
  • Some experience in one of the following areas is beneficial, but not essential:
    • Working with healthcare data;
    • Delivering software and/or artificial intelligence/machine learning in regulated spaces;
    • Big data tooling such as Spark, Beam or Hadoop MapReduce.

Travel Expectations

There may be occasional travel to the U.S. for internal meetings, and also travel in UK/Europe for training and to meet with customers. We are a remote-first team, with occasional meetings in London. We actively support flexible working. Our colleagues are based in the U.S. and so there will be the need to occasionally be available for evening meetings.
