Position Overview
This position is for a Python developer with experience supporting the FBI’s Information Management Division by applying information technology solutions to their business processes. This Python developer would be responsible for development and maintenance of microservices and API development. Responsibilities would include all aspects of the software development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, integration, and deployment. This position is in a agile team environment and involves collaboration with and supporting other team members.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to
- Design and Develop web APIs using Python
- Use design and development methodologies as part of the agile development and SCRUM processes.
- Adhere to good development practices: documentation, code standards, code/design reviews, optimization and maintainability.
- Must be analytical, detail oriented and able to translate functional requirements into technical solutions (i.e., microservices) using Python frameworks.
- Conduct automated unit and integration tests of product functionality following established testing processes or procedures.
- Research problems discovered by QA or product support and provide acceptable problem resolution.
- Research and identify new technologies and developmental tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, similar degree, and 3 years of experience or significant software engineering experience (7+ years)
- Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in Object Oriented Design and Development.
- Proficient in abstraction, advanced techniques, best practices, and design patterns.
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills, self-motivated, and able to work and communicate in a team environment.
- Proficient in Python.
- Experience in AWS or Azure is preferred.
- Able to communicate fluently in English.
Office Location and Travel
The primary place of performance is onsite at FBI Records Operation Center (ROC), Winchester, VA OR Chantilly, VA; however, telework will be supported by the program.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
