Job Description
Wolt is looking for a Python Backend Engineer to join the Purchase Platform team. The team is responsible for the complete purchase lifecycle in the core of Wolt’s consumer backend. The Purchase Platform team is small yet highly proficient, and we're eager to add more talent to our dynamic group of skilled engineers.
Purchase Platform Responsibility
- Purchase Platform has full ownership of purchases, a core concept in Wolt's backend.
- As part of the team, you will get right into the guts of Wolt’s systems and help make sure we are able to continue scaling the business.
- The team is responsible for developing back-end components with a balanced touch of writing code, DevOps, and software reliability engineering (SRE).
Tasks
- Extracting parts of a monolith into a new service.
- Building internal APIs for other teams.
- Optimizing old flows inside the backend to be more efficient and scalable.
Python Community
- We have a strong Python community at Wolt and modern Python (FastAPI, Flask) is our bread and butter.
- We strive to always use the latest Python version in our services which allows us to benefit from the latest language features.
Expectations
We are looking for someone with a strong professional background in building backend services using asynchronous Python and delivering modern, testable, and maintainable code. We expect high emotional intelligence, a willingness to take ownership beyond the obvious, motivation to learn new things and to teach others, and a willingness to collaborate with different teams across the organization.
