Network SME Responsibilities

Network SMEs hand-write diagnostic steps and solutions, such as regular expression (regex) patterns, to:

• Collect data required to confirm vulnerability of software defects and security vulnerabilities.
• Validate outputs produced by AI models.

The SME will use their knowledge of network troubleshooting and command line interface diagnostic commands to assess that the model output contains valid information for further diagnosing a problem. SMEs will also provide write-ups for recommended actions and impact statements associated with problem statements to further define expert input.

Required Skills

Intermediate to expert level knowledge of:

• Cisco routing and switching products and solutions, focusing on campus and enterprise networks.
• Troubleshooting network issues.
• Cisco command line interface and diagnosing network problems using show commands.
• Creating and working with regular expressions (regex) patterns.
• Performing software recommendations, evaluating software defects, or troubleshooting network problems.
• Documenting methods of action and recommendations for network problems.
• Proficiency in Python, and the ability to interpret and write Python code.
• Interacting with 3rd party APIs and resources through REST.
• Automation frameworks, such as Ansible and Terraform.

Experience working onsite in RTP, NC & San Jose, CA as an SME.
