As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Small Business Deposits group, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions and support across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Lead the team around design, develop, code, and troubleshoot with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications.
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains services that run synchronously with appropriate systems and monitors the group's overall code deployment strategies, testing, and support.
  • Support efforts to take heritage private cloud applications/services and modernize them to run in the public cloud such as AWS.
  • Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in coding artifacts and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies and takes the time to teach these principles to the group as a whole.
  • Adds to team culture diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) such as Python, Java, C#
  • Proficient in coding in Java based frameworks like Springboot/Spring.
  • Understanding of technologies such as Apache Kafka, Microservices, Containers, Standard RDBMS DB, advanced in SQL, Splunk, Dynatrace, Maven, GIT and GraphQL web services.
  • Proficient in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (Cloud concepts, AWS and Azure familiarity).
  • Hands-on development experience and in-depth knowledge of Java/Python, Microservices, Containers/Kubernetes and Advanced SQL.
  • Ability to independently design, build, test, and deploy code. Should be able to lead by example and guide the team with their technical expertise.
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Ability to identify risks/issues for the project and manage them accordingly.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Knowledge and experience with Cloud related technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, etc.
  • Participation in Test Driven Development or Business Driven Development (BDD)
  • Practice of Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery
  • Experience with Agile-based project methodology.
  • Lead/People management skills would be given preference but are not mandatory.
