Location and Team
Our development, engineering, and technical sales teams are based in Berlin-Adlershof. With an international team of 40 employees, we support research institutions and industrial customers worldwide with static diffractive microoptics and adaptive spatial light modulators. HOLOEYE offers both standard components and customized solutions tailored to customer needs.
Use Case
- HOLOEYE solutions are used globally in areas such as laser beam splitting and shaping, as well as in generating structured light for applications like 3D sensing.
Team and Leadership
- The "Diffractive Optics" team, led by Dr. Andreas Hermerschmidt, consists of approximately 5 members covering all aspects of product specification, including customer interaction, specification, design and simulation, data preparation for manufacturing, supplier interaction, and internal optical laboratory tests.
- Andreas Hermerschmidt, a physicist with extensive experience in laser physics and diffractive optics, values teamwork and emphasizes open and direct communication. Maintaining a good balance between customer needs, the HOLOEYE team, and external partners is of utmost importance to him.
Job Opening
We are looking for an F&E Engineer specializing in Microoptics / Diffractive Optics to join our "Diffractive Optics" development team in Berlin-Adlershof.
Tech & Tool Stack
- Design and Simulation: Custom software based on Python and C++, as well as commercial software (e.g., LightTrans Virtual Lab & Zemax)
- Software Development: Python, C++, MatLab, and LabVIEW
- AI Support: Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT
- Optical Function and Surface Characterization: Laser diffraction, spectrometry, image processing, laser scanning microscopy / electron microscopy
- Project Management: Atlassian JIRA
- Documentation: Atlassian Confluence
Qualifications
- Educational Background: University (or technical college) degree in Physics, Microsystem Technology, Computer Science / Programming, Optical Engineering
- Technical Knowledge: Ideally in at least 2-3 of the following areas: Fourier Optics, rigorous diffraction simulations (e.g., RCWA, FDTD), wave optics propagation, Metasurfaces, Lithography, Lasers, Optical Systems
- Programming Skills: Python, ideally also in C++, MATLAB
- Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills to correlate simulation and experimental results and draw necessary conclusions for further optimizations
- Work Approach: Ability to work systematically, self-organized, team-oriented, and adaptable to changing requirements
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English, knowledge of German is desirable
- Mindset: Intrinsic motivation and solution-oriented approach
