CTC is looking for talented data scientists with python programming skills who are excited about manipulating large amounts of structured and unstructured data sets into useful information to solve critical intelligence community (IC) problems. You’ll write scripts to integrate data, conduct exploratory data analysis to discover hidden patterns, apply machine learning to train predictive models, and use the right combination of tools to transform that set of disparate data points into objective answers that help mission partners make informed decisions. You’ll provide the customer with a deep understanding of their data, what it all means, and how they can best use it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discover relationships and correlations by enriching and prioritizing data.
  • Enable the discovery of structure, roles, and key relationships related to actors, devices, or facilities.
  • Provide situational awareness via data unification into a single pane of glass that accurately and quickly depicts the context.
  • Perform systems modeling to represent real-world systems with computational analogs that assist knowledge about how political, military, economic, social or technical systems operate, are capable of and react to external shocks.
  • Create business analytics that support data-driven decisions that improve the business of intelligence.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the Mathematics, the Physical Science, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 6-8 years of related experience, or a Master of Science degree with 4-6 years of experience, or a PhD with 2-4 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate analytic methods and methodological tools in two or more of the following areas:
  • Applied mathematics (e.g. probability and statistics, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, ordinary and partial differential equations, stochastic processes, graph theory)
  • Computer programming (e.g., scripting, data parsing/ETL, artificial intelligence, machine learning, math/statistics packages, natural language processing, software versioning, distributed computing)
  • Visualization (e.g., dashboard creation, network analysis, GIS/geospatial analysis, telemetry analysis)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Python and some of the following software/tools: SQL, R, Hadoop, Spark, Java, C/C++, Git, Bash, Tableau, ArcGIS, Unix commands

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creativity and innovation in solving complex problems.
  • Organize relevant information using data management tools.
  • Ability to create hypotheses about data and develop software applications to test them.
  • Perform data storytelling via graphical, verbal, or written narratives.
  • Motivated to work collaboratively and effectively in a team environment.
